C. White

C. White (she/they) writes literary fiction that explores gender, sexuality, and power. Their short stories have earned a 2019 Pushcart nomination, spots on the 2019 Peter Hinchcliffe Award longlist and the 2026 Open Season Award shortlist, and third place in the 2024 Short Grain Contest. Their short story "Pay Her" received a 2026 National Magazine Awards Honourable Mention.C. grew up in rural Eastern Ontario, went to university in Southern Ontario, then raised a family while working and pursuing further higher education. During that time, her writing happened in the off-hours. That changed when she enrolled in the Humber School for Writers in 2024 where she was mentored by Waubgeshig Rice and received a Letter of Distinction. She currently lives in Tsí Tkarón:to' (Toronto) where she is working on a novel with the generous support of the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council.C. is a member of The Writers' Union of Canada and is represented by Eva Oakes at Transatlantic Agency.Selected Short Fiction“So Romantic."
